Promi is a small, independent, founder-led company. It started as the planning tool its founder wanted for his own family: the modeling a financial planner does, without the $3,000-a-year retainer.
Why Promi exists
Every mainstream finance app since 2007 has been built the same way: ingest your transactions, categorize them, show you what happened. Useful, but backwards. A financial planner starts from the other end, with who you are, where you live, and what your household should look like, and then checks reality against the model.
Promi was built to put that approach in an app: peer benchmarking from public data, budgets pre-filled for your ZIP code, and retirement projections that model your actual household. It launched on the App Store and the web in June 2026 and is built in the open, shaped directly by the people using it.
Being small is part of the product. There is no growth team optimizing engagement loops, no pressure to sell data, and no advisor upsell waiting at the end of a projection. Just the tools, priced like a subscription instead of a retainer.
