Account Connection
Promi connects to banks through Plaid, the same service behind Venmo, Betterment and thousands of other financial apps. Anything Plaid cannot reach can be added by hand.
Plaid is a read-only bridge between the bank and Promi:
- Read-only. Promi receives balances and transactions. It never receives the ability to move money.
- Encrypted. In transit over TLS, at rest with AES-256.
- Revocable. Any institution can be disconnected from Settings.
- No stored passwords. Credentials go to Plaid directly and never reach Promi.
Plaid reaches more than 12,000 institutions across the US, Canada and UK, including major banks, credit unions and brokerages.
