Total return, benchmarks, and what contributions hide

Portfolio Performance

The performance chart plots the combined market value of your investment accounts over time. Separating what the market did from what you added is most of what reading it involves.

Each point is the total market value of every investment account on that date.

Four things move the line

  • Market movements. Prices of what is already held.
  • Contributions. Money added, which raises value without being a return.
  • Withdrawals. The same in reverse.
  • Dividends and interest, where reinvested.

Some points are estimated. Where a brokerage does not supply history, Promi reconstructs it from a proxy and labels those points Estimated. They carry the shape of the period rather than its exact values.

Every one of these explains a number in the app

Promi computes them from your own balances and transactions, with the guide one click from the figure.
