Cost of Living
The same income supports different spending in different places. Promi adjusts peer comparisons for local cost of living so a figure is measured against the market it actually operates in.
Locations sort into four tiers, weighted by housing, goods and services, taxes and overall price levels.
| Tier | Meaning | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| VHCOL | Very high cost | San Francisco, New York, Boston, Honolulu |
| HCOL | High cost | Seattle, Los Angeles, Washington, Miami |
| MCOL | Medium cost | Austin, Denver, Nashville, Portland |
| LCOL | Lower cost | Many Midwest cities, smaller towns, rural areas |
Your tier appears under your location on the Profile card, derived from the city and state in Settings. Changing either recalculates it.
