Peer Comparison
A peer cohort is a group of households matched to yours on age, income, size and location. Percentiles then place your figures inside that group rather than against a national average.
Four attributes define the group:
- Age bracket
- Five-year bands, such as 35 to 39 or 40 to 44.
- Income band
- Broad ranges aligned to standard economic thresholds.
- Household size
- Single, couple, or family with children.
- Cost-of-living tier
- Derived from your location, in four tiers.
Matching on all four is what makes the comparison interpretable. A national median mixes every age and every housing market into one number, which few households resemble.
